On Saturday, September 20th 2014, Team 888 competed and earned two awards at the Eighth Annual Battle O’ Baltimore FIRST Robotics Competition (http://battleobaltimore.com/).
Team 888 performed very well among the 32 competing teams traveling from schools as far away as New York and Virginia. The Robotiators solid play during the qualifying rounds earned them one of the eight coveted alliance captain positions. Despite suffering failures of a pressure regulator and main processor board during elimination play, the team was able to quickly repair the “The Dean”. Unfortunately, Team 888’s great run ended against the top-seeded alliance at the Battle O’ Baltimore.
Despite the robot’s loss, Team 888’s humans took home two awards. Team 888 earned the Star Spangled Banner Award for Gracious Professionalism®. And the sole mentor award, the Commodore Rodgers Mentor Award, was awarded to the GHS Robotiators' very own lead mentor Mr. Dean Sheridan. Congratulations to all members of the team!
